Friday Night, Martini, and Inventions

It's a high-summer Friday night, which makes cocktails and some nice food on the patio or deck quite appealing. I'm a ginger martini fan only this year (Domaine de Canton, vodka, a squeezed lemon). Tonight I was going to fix Rocketman a jalapeno martini, but realized I did not have quite the ingredients after I pulled a few recipes.

My innovation was to put one shot vodka, one shot Domaine de Canton, and the juice of one fresh lime in the shaker and put a slice of jalapeno in the glass. He gave it plus reviews.

For future reference, I will try this though: http://www.martinirecipe.net/spicy-martini-recipe.html

Meatless Monday Hits the Roaring Fork

EdibleAspen.Com just listed a number of Roaring Fork Restaurants commited to including a meatless entre as part of Meatless Monday. I'll be very interested to see how menus might expand through such offerings. Some of the Asian-based restaurants should have no issue given the fact they commonly offer dishes with tofu as the protein option.

People who are meat eaters may ask the question, why Meatless Monday? Studies included in this link support health benefits that may be of interest to you.

I'll be visiting some of the restaurants to see what they are providing. Off the top, I can think of the Pullman's potato and truffle perogis which are definitely worth a mention.
